Post 28: “I Ramasin!”

A couple weeks ago I was lucky enough to be invited to go visit a friend at her home not too far from Torino. Her summer villa is set on a large fenced property with a beautiful little orchard in the back. And of course we all brought our dogs because they deserve a holiday too!

In the orchard she has tree’s with a special fruit called Ramasin, it is a fruit only found in this region and has a very particular taste. It resembles a plum in taste and texture, but I’m told it is an offshoot of the prune family.  It’s about the same size as a grape, yellowish on the inside and is very yummy! So as our parting gift we each took home a handful of freshly picked Ramasin! Yum! :)

Un paio di settimane fa con mia grande gioia sono stata invitata ad andare a trovare un’amica nella sua casa non molto lontano da Torino.

La sua villa estiva è situata in una grande proprietà recintata con un bel  frutteto nella parte posteriore. E naturalmente abbiamo tutti portato i nostri cani perché anche loro meritano una vacanza!

Nel frutteto c’erano alberi con un frutto particolare chiamato Ramasin: cresce solo in questa regione e ha un gusto e un sapore davvero particolari. Ricorda la susina nel sapore e nell’aspetto e l’albero che li produce appartiene alla famiglia dei prugni.

Ha più o meno la dimensione di un grande acino d’uva, è giallastro all’interno ed è molto buono! Così, come regalo abbiamo tutti portato a casa dalla festa un bel po’ di Ramasin appena raccolti! Mmmmm! :)
